Will The Jasper AI Song Writer Generator Change The Face Of Popular Music?
It's no secret that AI (artificial intelligence) is rapidly changing the way we live and work. But what you may not know is that AI is also changing the way we write songs and lyrics.
In this post, we'll take a look at how AI is being used to generate lyrics and whether or not it's actually any good. Stay tuned!

What is AI lyric generation, and how does it work?
Songwriting is a process that has remained largely unchanged for centuries. A songwriter sits down with a pen and paper, or perhaps a guitar, and lets the words flow until they have written a complete song. But what if there was a different way to write lyrics?
What if, instead of relying on the inspiration of the moment, aspiring songwriters could use AI to generate lyrics automatically?
This is not a new idea. In fact, AI songwriting is something that has been experimented with for many years, especially as an aid to overcoming writer's block.
In simple terms, AI lyric generation is the use of artificial intelligence to create new or original song lyrics. The aim is to replicate or even improve upon the creative processes that humans use when writing songs in a fraction of the time it would take a human composer to come up with something similar from scratch.

So far, AI songwriting has had mixed results.
Some people believe that it has the potential to change the face of popular music, making songwriting easier and more accessible than ever before. During the 2014 Olympic Games, a popular AI anthem generator made headlines for creating unique and creative mashup versions of fake National Anthems based on any given location.
Others are less impressed, arguing that AI-generated lyrics lack the creativity and passion of those written by humans. That it cannot replicate the same level of creativity, connection to emotions and storytelling.
Whilst it is a great tool for copywriting, only time will tell what impact the Jasper lyric generator will have on the music industry.
Interestingly, the Jasper team didn't set out to create a tool for generating new hit singles - instead, their goal was to help speed up the workflow for writing ad copy.
The pros and cons of AI-generated lyrics
There is no doubt that AI songwriting is an interesting concept. The idea is that AI could be used to generate lyrics by using GTP-3 machine learning. This would mean that songwriters would no longer need to come up with their own ideas but could simply use artificial intelligence to produce lyrics for them.
Critics of AI songwriting argue that it would lead to a homogenization of music, as all songs would start to sound the same. They also believe that it would take away the emotional element of songwriting, as machines would not be able to understand human emotions.
Supporters of AI songwriting argue that it could help to improve the quality of music as it would allow writers to focus on other aspects of the songwriting process, such as melodies and arrangements. They also believe that AI could help to create new and innovative genres of music that we have never heard before.
